WEST VILLAGE
PIED-à-TERRE
In a quaint corner of the West Village, this gut renovation and merging of two adjacent apartments created an airy feel for a large studio punctuated with pretty views of downtown Manhattan. To add balance in the bright space, we poured color into the furnishings, leveraging brighter jewel tones (our client’s favorite) to soften the space. Deep raspberry, plum, and marine blue combine with lush textures to contrast the loft-like feel.

To keep the space open but welcoming we added key architectural details throughout: a clerestory soffit in the kitchen, and Italian glass doors to the bedroom area keep it feeling breezy, while providing light, utility, and privacy. The joining of the two spaces afforded room for an indulgent walk-in closet that ensures all visual clutter is kept behind pocket doors allowing the decor to take center stage. In the bathrooms; stone and tile were carefully selected - at times piece by piece for the mosaics - with the goal of maintaining the unique play between the crisp greys and whites and the depth of the hardwood floors. Touches of geometric shapes throughout add movement and energy to the home, while the living art that is NYC is highlighted by simple black framed windows on calming white walls.
